U.S. Establishes Bitcoin Reserve

A senior official at the White House has revealed that the U.S. is setting aside bitcoin (BTC) as a unique reserve asset. This move aims to distinguish it from other cryptocurrencies and give it exceptional status.

In anticipation of a crypto summit at the White House, the official stated on Friday that the government plans to create an additional crypto reserve. However, this reserve will only consist of assets acquired through government seizures. Currently, the bitcoin stockpile is anticipated to start with approximately 200,000 BTC, which is already in possession of the government.

There are discussions on the possibility of expanding this reserve through active investments. However, senior officials are tasked with ensuring that such investments do not rely on taxpayer funds.
